Also Known As:

Lateral Radiography of Thorax
X-Ray Chest Lateral View is a diagnostic imaging test used to examine the lungs, heart, spine, and chest structures from the side view. In this X-ray, the patient stands sideways against the X-ray plate, allowing doctors to see the chest organs from a different angle than the PA or AP view. This view helps in detecting lung infections, tumors, fluid behind the lungs, spine problems, and abnormalities that may not be clearly visible in the front chest X-ray. The procedure is quick, painless, and usually completed within a few minutes.
Includes 4 Test Parameters
Side-view radiographic projection of the chest.
To visualize structures hidden behind the heart or located in the posterior lungs.
Side profile of the lungs, heart, and thoracic spine.
Provides a three-dimensional perspective when combined with a PA view.
