X-Ray Cervical Spine Extension View is a specialized X-ray imaging test used to evaluate the cervical spine (neck bones) while the neck is bent backward (extension position). This view helps doctors assess the stability, alignment, and movement of the cervical vertebrae during neck motion. It is commonly recommended in cases of neck pain, cervical spondylosis, suspected ligament injury, spinal instability, trauma, or restricted neck movement. The extension view is often taken along with flexion view to compare the movement of the cervical spine. The procedure is quick, painless, and usually completed within a few minutes.
Includes 4 Test Parameters
Lateral radiographic imaging performed while the neck is tilted backward in an extension position.
To evaluate the functional stability and movement of the cervical vertebrae and ligaments.
The cervical spine (neck region).
