X-Ray Barium Meal is a contrast radiographic study used to examine the stomach and duodenum. The patient drinks barium sulfate, and X-ray images are taken to study the shape, position, and function of the stomach.
Includes 4 Test Parameters
Ingestion of barium contrast followed by upper GI radiographic imaging.
To examine the anatomy and mucosal lining of the stomach and duodenum.
The lower esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine.
Patient must remain NPO (nothing by mouth) for several hours before the test.
